| I am home now for the second time in two weeks. The first time was for Fall Break, and I'm home this weekend for my Grandma's funeral. She was 81 and a great lady. She was ready to go though, so all is good.
I'm home alone right now. I should be writing about India's political culture, but after writing a page I opted for the sweet juicy sin that is The Facebook. Jesus, I must implore you. Should I take The Facebook as a sign from above that I should never do homework again? Am I really meant to resist? Well, if loving surfing the net mindlessly for hours is wrong, I'll never be right.
I stalked lots of people and asked them to be my friends, hopefully they will accept my olive branch. I don't have a picture yet though. That will have to wait until I get back to school where the scanner and I can go to work.
| I voted today in my first presidential election. Yay! Milwaukee has "early vote" so mary and i went down to town hall and cast our ballots. It was pedestrian, but exciting.
AND tomorrow I'm skipping a class to see John Kerry speak at MATC. I'm sure it will be another case of waiting....waiting....waiting....waitng...cheering wildly...listening to short speach....cheering wildly, but I'm pumped nonetheless. I think I could wait forever to see that beautiful grey coif.
| - - On Sunday I met Natalie Portman. She was making an apppearance on behalf of John Kerry, and because I'm a college dem and didn't verbally assault the college dems VP on a limo last year like Dubbs did, i got to be a VIP and wait in a swanky upper room to meet her before she spoke. Oh one hand it was kind of lame, i just shook her hand and said hello. But I'd never met a celebrity before, so it was novel at least.
The other fun thing I did this week was see Ben Folds. He played on campus on Teusday. We got in line at 6, doors opened at 7, the opening band played until 7:30, and from 8-9:30 per Ben's request, we all had to watch the vice presidential debate on an enormous screen. he started playing at 10. Although we were a bit annoyed about having to cool our heels for like 4 hours, he was so awesome that we forgot to be mad.
| Today I was deputized. I am now Deputy. I'm overwhelmed by my new power.
Joking aside, I can now register people to vote. That's pretty sweet if you ask me.
| So i was thinking about my majors and what i might actaullly want to do when i graduate and this came to mind. Question: Can we be absolutely anyone we want to be, or can we really only be the person we were born to be. In other words; is vocation something we're born with and have to find or is it something we determine over time?
I haven't made up my mind, but i'm interested to know your opinion if you have one.
